TCS launches AI hub, design studio in UK amid layoffs, aims to create 5,000 jobs

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT company, on Friday, October 10, 2025, announced that it has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) experience zone along with a design studio in London, United Kingdom, as part of its restructuring efforts, according to a stock exchange filing.
TCS also revealed that the IT sector plans to create 5,000 new jobs across the UK over the next three years, as investment efforts aim to support talent development and employment.
This expansion plan comes amid a company-wide restructuring in which the IT major aims to lay off around 12,000 employees, or almost 2% of its global workforce.
July-September quarter data for the 2025-26 financial year showed that the company’s total headcount had already fallen by 19,755 to 593,314 as of the second quarter, compared to 613,069 headcount as of the end of the first quarter of the financial year.
What does TCS plan to do?
Design studio TCS aims to play a strategic role in promoting innovation and customer collaboration across the country with this AI hub.
The London design studio is a follow-up to the first design studio, which opened in New York in September 2025. These studios aim to leverage the innovation ecosystem that TCS has created in partnership with partners, academia and start-up businesses across the country.
UK Investment Minister Jason Stockwood said: “As we celebrate the landmark Prime Minister’s visit to India, we reaffirm our commitment to maximize the trade deal we signed between our two economies in July. As a valued investor for the UK, we see companies like Tata Group and TCS at the heart of this mission, which will ultimately create jobs, put money in people’s pockets and deliver economic growth in both countries.” “It is located,” he said.
TCS-UK relations
The Tata Group firm has been partnering with the UK for over five decades and has created nearly 42,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the country.
The IT specialist contributed £3.3 billion to the UK economy in the 2023-24 financial year, while also supporting a total tax contribution of over €780 million in the same financial year.
Vinay Singhvi, Head of UK, said: “The UK is TCS’ second largest market globally, making it the centerpiece of our worldwide investment strategy. The AI Experience Zone will help drive innovation in collaboration with businesses across the UK, maintaining an edge in AI and new technologies. We also have a footprint across the UK, investing in innovation, people and skills across all four countries.” We continue to expand our footprint.” TCS’s Ireland.
