Ahmedabad has been officially confirmed as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said on Wednesday.

The decision confirms that the world’s most populous country will stage the landmark edition of the Games after delegates from 74 Commonwealth member states and territories approved India’s bid at the Commonwealth Sports General Assembly in Glasgow today.
India has presented a compelling vision for the 2030 Games, based in the Gujarat city of Ahmedabad, which will build on the foundations laid by Glasgow 2026 and allow India to celebrate its centenary in style. After it was announced that Ahmedabad would host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, 20 Garba dancers and 30 Indian dhol drummers descended on the General Assembly Hall to surprise delegates with a rich cultural performance that gave a taste of the heritage and pride athletes and fans can expect from a Games held in the Indian state of Gujarat.
