After Ratan Tata’s TCS, this IT giant gets 21-acre land for just 99 paise in Andhra Pradesh, not Narayana Murthy’s Infosys, HCL

The movement reflects the aggressive coercion of the state to transform Visakhapatnam into a technology center.

Cognizant Technology Solutions, the Global IT services giant, provided 21.31 acres of land from the Andhra Pradesh government. CT Company will establish a large CT campus in the coastal city Visakhapatnam and plans to invest 1,582 RS in the project. According to the TOI report, it is expected to produce 8,000 jobs in the next eight years. The decision comes months after Tata Group to buy 21 acres of land for 99 Paise from TCS’s current Chandrababu Naidu government in the province. The movement reflects the aggressive pressure to transform the coastal city of the state into a technology center.

The price of the nominal land underlines the commitment of the state government to withdraw large technology investments in the region. Cognizant is expected to start commercial operations in Vishakapatnam. Earlier this year, Andhra Pradesh’s IT and Human Resources Minister Nara Loksh met with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S at the World Economic Forum in Davos and urged the company to expand to Tier-2 cities such as Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam is approximately 600 km from Haydarabad and 800 km from Chennai, the main software centers of India alongside Bengaluru. Now, it will be a strategic alternative for Visakhapatnam IT operations.
