Ahead of UP elections, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav releases QR code for crowdfunding

Yadav, who launched the code on his birthday, named it ‘PDA Swabhiman Sahyog’ and said that apart from collecting money from people in a transparent manner, it will also help the party connect with ground-level workers.
The party has urged people to contribute at least £20 or more if they wish. “This initiative has been launched to increase public participation and strengthen the organisation,” Yadav said. he said.
Yadav is counting on PDA (Pichda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) support for next year’s assembly elections. The PDA formula was a huge success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections; SP won 37 seats, while ally Congress won six out of 80 seats.
“This is not just a fund raising effort but also a way to connect with the voters, especially from the PDA group. This is their party and they will have the right to participate from funding to ticket distribution and representation,” SP spokesperson Udaiveer Singh told ET. “This is an old socialist formula. If we want to protect our party from the financing of industrialists, we will have to go to the people and get funding directly from them.”
