Air Canada jet hits vehicle, forcing New York’s LaGuardia airport to close

An Air Canada Express regional jet crashed into a vehicle on the ground after landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, forcing the airport to close.

According to flight tracking site Flightradar24, the CRJ-900 plane from Montreal crashed into the vehicle at about 24 miles per hour.

The jet was operated by Air Canada’s regional partner Jazz Aviation.

The US Federal Aviation Administration issued a grounding order for all planes at the airport, saying it was an emergency, without providing further details.

LaGuardia’s website stated that incoming planes were diverted to other airports or sent back to where they took off.
