Airline Cancels 70 Flights Over An Issue Most People Would Never Even Think Of

Don’t worry, there wasn’t any snake inside.
But a Finnish airline gave a rather unexpected reason for canceling 70 flights; this move affected approximately 11,000 customers.
Finnair, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, and operating flights between Europe, Asia and North America, said on Wednesday: in a press release On 13 October it had to temporarily ground eight A321 aircraft due to safety concerns about the aircraft’s installed seat covers.
The airline said it made the move “after being informed by the manufacturer of the original seat covers that the effect of washing on the fire protection of the seat covers had not been properly verified.”
Finnair stated that “seats are generally washed every two years”.
“The affected seat covers were manufactured by one of Finnair’s long-term business partners to the specifications provided by the original seat manufacturer,” the statement said. “The covers were washed in accordance with the information received from the original seat manufacturer.”
“We are very sorry for this inconvenience,” Finnair said about the cancellations.
He added that one of the grounded planes has already been returned to service and plans to have all eight operational by the end of the month.

Although Finnair’s reason for canceling flights is rare, this isn’t a strange travel disruption at all.
A Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona in 2023 postponed for eight hours The plane had to make a U-turn after a passenger had severe diarrhea.
“It’s just a biohazard issue,” one pilot was heard saying in the audio transmission between the pilots and air traffic control. “We had a passenger who had diarrhea throughout the flight, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.”
