This comes amid the ongoing controversy over the video in which the Akal Takht allegedly issued the edict against Mr. Mann in Amritsar on June 15, 2026.
The issue stems from Mr Mann being summoned by the Akal Takht in January this year for allegedly commenting on the ‘Guru ki Golak’ (gurdwara donation box) and allegedly indulging in “objectionable activities” with images of Sikh Gurus and slain militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in a video clip.

In a statement issued in Amritsar, the Akal Takht said that the Prime Minister appeared at the Akal Takht Sahib on January 15, 2026, in connection with various cases heard against him. He addressed the issue regarding an objectionable video and said, “This is completely fake.”
According to the statement, Mr. Mann said that he wanted the video to be investigated and that he could provide the addresses of forensic laboratories.
He said this is the age of AI (Artificial Intelligence); The videos created by artificial intelligence were made not only for itself but also for others.
Mr Mann, who rejected the video, said it was “false propaganda” aimed at smearing him, while opposition parties were pressuring him to resign after the edict was issued against him.
It was stated that Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj asked Mann to give the names of two government forensic laboratories where the video could be examined and the Prime Minister agreed to conduct the investigation.
Mr. Gargajj had said that the issue was linked to the Gurus and even if the video turns out to be fake, no one’s character should be assassinated.
Jathedar had said that only through forensic examination can it be determined whether the video is real or fake.
According to the statement, yMr. Mann had told the jathedar that the investigation could be conducted under his supervision at any forensic laboratory of his choice and that they would arrange for it.
The Jathedar then asked whether Mr. Mann had reviewed the video before, and Mr. Mann replied that there was a court order stating that the video itself was fake. Mr. Gargajj said he had read the court order and that the court had not ordered any investigation into the video.
Mr Mann then said he was prepared to have a forensic examination done if the Jathedar wished, the statement said.
After this, the jathedar said that if the video is real, the next decision will be taken by the Khalsa Panth.
Even then, Mr. Mann was asked to provide the names of two laboratories on his side, which he had not done to date, according to the statement.
Akal Takht declared Mann ‘Guru Dokhi’ (anti-Guru) and ‘Khalsa Panth virodhi’ (anti-Khalsa Panth) in the video on Monday, June 15, 2026.
