The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has issued a show-cause notice to Al Falah University, which is under the scanner following the Delhi blast, for showing fake certificates on its website, officials said on Thursday (November 13, 2025).

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous government body that evaluates and certifies the quality of higher education institutions such as colleges and universities.

In its reasoned announcement, NAAC noted that the university, which is “not accredited by NAAC or has not applied for accreditation”, publicly displays on its website that some of its colleges are NAAC certified.

“Al Falah University is an initiative of Al Falah Charitable Trust, which manages three colleges on the campus namely Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology (Ranked A by NAAC since 1997), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology (Ranked A by NAAC since 2008) and Al Falah College of Education and Training (Ranked A by NAAC since 2006),” the announcement said on its website.

“This is absolutely false and misleading to the public, especially parents, students and stakeholders,” the NAAC said in its announcement. The statement was included.

The accreditation body sought an explanation from the university and directed it to remove sections claiming fake NAAC certification from its website and other publicly available documents.

The statement stated that the accreditation of Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology ended in 2018, and the accreditation of Al Falah School of Education and Training ended in 2016.

“The accreditation status of both colleges has expired. Neither college has yet volunteered for NAAC’s new Assessment and Accreditation process,” the statement said.

According to its website, Al Falah University was established by the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the Haryana Private Universities Act.

It started as an engineering school in 1997. In 2013, Al Falah Engineering College received category A NAAC accreditation. In 2014, the Haryana government granted it university status. Al Falah Medical Faculty is also affiliated with the university.

According to many observers, in its early years, Al Falah University presented itself as an excellent alternative to Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia for minority students seeking quality education.

On Monday, hours after a “white-collar terror module” was detonated and eight people, including three doctors, were arrested, a high-intensity explosion ripped through a car near Red Fort in Delhi, killing 13 people and injuring many others. The arrested doctors had connections with Al Falah University.
