Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, is set to attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address after being removed from Trump’s prime-time address in 2025.

Fox News Digital spotted Green on the traditionally Democratic side of the House of Representatives on Tuesday evening, standing in a seat just five rows away from where Trump will speak starting at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The longtime progressive lawmaker from Texas was removed by security in 2025 during Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress after he repeatedly interrupted the president by yelling and waving his cane.

The House voted to censure Green for the outburst, with 10 Democrats joining the GOP.

He was one of several Democrats to disrupt Trump’s 2025 speech, but Green’s persistent and vocal protests after being asked to silence him forced Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to direct security to eject him from the chamber.

“You don’t have the authority to cut Medicaid,” Green shouted at the time.

In response, Johnson said, “Members are deliberately and consistently violating etiquette, and the chairman is preparing to instruct the sergeant to restore order in the joint session.” he said.

Green has been one of the most vocal critics of Trump among House Democrats and has pushed articles of impeachment against Trump on multiple occasions.

He remained defiant when he stopped speaking to the White House press pool on the first floor of the U.S. Capitol after being kicked out of the second-floor House chamber where Trump was speaking.

“I’m willing to take whatever punishment comes my way. I didn’t tell anyone ‘don’t punish me.'” “I said I would accept the punishment,” Green said, according to the White House press pool report.

“But it’s worth letting people know that some of us will stand against this president’s desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”
