‘I was really challenged to get it, so I was just on bed rest and drinking four liters of water a day for a month to replenish lost water.’
She said of the traumatic period and severe insomnia: ‘I didn’t sleep at all for a week after 21 hours of labour. I slept seven hours in seven days…
‘I had an emergency caesarean which then caused fertility problems for me too and then I had a bit of postpartum psychosis due to lack of sleep so I was hallucinating. He probably fell into depression for a few years without realizing it…
‘Then I wanted a second child and had three unsuccessful transfers. The fourth one worked and I was a bit stubborn about it.’
Paloma also opened up about the time she suffered a miscarriage on the set of 2019’s Pennyworth, where she played sociopath Bet Sykes.
She revealed that she realized she had miscarried while filming a fight scene but insisted on continuing filming for fear of losing her job, saying: ‘I’d go home without a job and without a viable pregnancy.’
Paloma opened up about keeping her miscarriage a secret at work: ‘[The miscarriage] I started work and there was a fight scene in Pennyworth. I thought to myself: “He’s gone, so I might as well continue what I’m doing.” I had to go to the toilet nine times.
‘I told them I ate something bad last night because I knew if I told them they would escort me home. I didn’t want it. ‘I’d be on my way home, unemployed and without a viable pregnancy.’

She revealed for the first time how serious her relationship with her new man had become, revealing that they had been dating for almost a year.
Speaking on Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s Newlyweds podcast in March, Paloma said: ‘It’s a weird thing.
‘I wasn’t married to the father of my children and I’ve always been anti-marriage because its history is about the possession of women and I’m the child of a feminist.
‘Weirdly, I don’t know what changed about me, but this guy said to me a bit, ‘Oh well.’
She continued: ‘I remember when I met him I said: ‘I’ll never get married, never ask me.’
‘And over time I said, ‘Yeah I don’t know, I’ll keep an open mind.’ I can just feel myself softening.
‘If my mother hears about this, she’ll say: “What’s going on with you? Is this a midlife crisis?”
In March, Paloma revealed that her new love, which she had previously been completely against, had finally made her consider getting married.
‘Based on my experience, I think having a child with someone is stronger than marriage.’
When asked by Jamie if this meant he was now in love, Paloma replied: ‘Yes.
‘I also feel like I come from a perspective where I know how this is going to turn out. He can still go. If we don’t invest, if we don’t ask each other.
‘I also really believe in therapy. If you find a good one I think that’s very important.
‘If you’re with someone who says, “I’m ready to go and try this.”‘
