Alan Greenspan, longtime head of the US federal reserve, dies aged 100 – reports | Alan Greenspan

Alan Greenspan, the influential economist who guided U.S. monetary policy during five terms as chairman of the Federal Reserve under four presidents, has died at the age of 100, NBC News reported Monday.

In the statement he shared networkGreenspan’s wife, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell, said Greenspan died from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Greenspan chaired the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006 and served in the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and George W Bush.

“He will be remembered for his intelligence and kindness,” Mitchell’s statement to NBC said. “Being his life partner was the joy of my life.”
