Alan Jones indecent assault, sexual touching trial set to include 139 witnesses, go for four months

He added that ODPP has made four attempts to obtain more detail about Jones’ representation so that the parties can hold a case conference and try to reduce that number.

“As of today, no conference has been held as we have not been informed who the lawyer is,” Curran said.

New details about Jones’ accusations emerged last month, shedding more light on the scene and circumstances of the alleged crime.

After initially being charged with dozens of crimes, many had their points reduced or reduced during the year-long legal process; The number of concerned complainants recently dropped from 11 to nine.

The same man was allegedly attacked while driving Jones to his home in Fitzroy Falls and twice to Jones’ home in Sydney in 2003.

In 2008 Jones allegedly assaulted a man three times at a Kiama restaurant; these included “caressing the front and back of her thigh on the outside of her clothing”, “caressing the lower part of the outside of her clothing” and “moving his body towards the back of the complainant’s body, touching her”. In 2012, Jones allegedly assaulted another complainant at an event in Sydney by touching and squeezing her bottom outside her clothing. Police said Jones “touched and grabbed” another man’s bottom at a Tamworth event in late 2013.

He is also accused of rubbing another man’s leg “towards his groin” during a performance at the Sydney Opera House in 2014. Five years later, he allegedly touched another complainant’s “back and lower part” during an event in Sydney.

Another man was allegedly assaulted by kissing him on the side of the mouth at an event in Sydney in 2015, and again between 2018 and 2020 at Jones’s Sydney home where the broadcaster is accused of “pushing his body, including his genitals, against the complainant’s upper inner thigh”.

Since his arrest, Jones has vehemently denied all allegations and previously told media outside court that he is “absolutely not guilty” and will “present my own account to the jury” of the “baseless” or distorted allegations.

Jones announced his retirement from radio station 2GB in May 2020.

The matter will return to court next Thursday to determine preliminary hearing legal arguments and dates.
