Aldi makes change to UK stores for last-minute bargain-hunting Brits | UK | News

Aldi is launching a new ‘reduced clean’ zone for bargain-hunting Brits in its UK stores. The supermarket hopes special discount zones will help customers save money and reduce food waste.
These clearly marked areas will house discounted bread, fresh produce and other perishable items approaching their expiration date, so customers will no longer need to search for labeled items throughout the store. Discounted items will be added to shelves throughout the day, helping shoppers save money on items that are likely to go unsold. Aldi UK’s national sustainability director Luke Emery said this would make bargain hunting “even easier”.
He said: “Our customers already know they can trust us to provide unrivaled value, but our new discount areas will make it even easier to grab a last-minute bargain.
“By creating special discount zones in store, we help shoppers turn to quality food at cheaper prices while reducing food waste.”
Aldi is already partnering with community donation platform Neighborly to donate excess food every day from its UK stores in a bid to tackle food waste.
It’s also teaming up with Too Good To Go to sell Surprise Bags, which include a range of items nearing their sell-by dates.
This comes after Aldi was named Britain’s cheapest supermarket by Which? For September. The consumer champion compares costs across eight UK supermarkets each month to help shoppers find the cheapest prices.

Aldi is the UK’s fourth largest supermarket, with more than 1,050 stores across the country.
