More British shoppers are set to pick up a local Aldi as the supermarket giant continues its plans to expand across the UK. Consistently named the cheapest supermarket in the UK, the affordable German chain is expanding its base in Britain and recently became the country’s fifth largest supermarket by market share. The retailer has confirmed plans to open more stores in the UK in the coming months, and recently added to the excitement by announcing 25 “priority locations” it is eyeing for new Aldi stores.
Aldi also said the expansion would create new jobs and that the chain would remain the UK’s highest-paid supermarket. It recently announced it will invest over £370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations across the country. It follows Aldi’s recent £40 million investment in London, where eight new stores are planned to open this year, bringing hundreds of new jobs and more affordable food options to communities that currently lack access to discount supermarkets.

Aldi is now seeking freehold, leased or long-term rental spaces in prominent locations with good visibility and access. It encourages landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities.
