Aldi reveals the quietest times to visit stores this summer | UK | News

Aldi has revealed the quietest times to shop in its store this summer to help families avoid peak periods. The German supermarket chain, which has more than 1,080 branches across the UK, said the quietest shopping times during the summer holidays were generally before 10am and after 8pm on weekdays, according to in-store data.

It was stated that there may be quieter periods later on Saturday evenings for those who shop on the weekend. Julie Ashfield, Commercial Manager at Aldi UK, said: “We know school holidays can be a busy and expensive time for families, so we want to make shopping as simple and affordable as possible.

“By visiting Aldi during quieter periods and taking advantage of Aldi’s daily value, shoppers can save both time and money this summer.”

Aldi also said it had “invested more than £200 million in price cuts so far this year, helping customers save on everything from fresh and frozen food to household essentials and personal care products.”

Aldi is the UK’s fourth largest supermarket and plans to further expand its footprint in the UK. It had previously confirmed plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months.

The retailer will open new supermarkets in England and Wales and on the Isle of Wight.

The store openings are part of a long-term aim to operate 1,500 stores in the UK.

Aldi was among a number of supermarket retailers to increase the pay of store staff earlier this year. In April, shop assistants working at Aldi’s branches in the UK saw their pay rise (up to £13.50 per hour nationally, while those working on the M25 rose to £14.88).

These pay rates rise to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively, depending on length of service.

Aldi said at the time that the change would benefit 28,000 hourly store employees.
