Alexia Putellas leaving Barca as London City Lionesses in pursuit

London City Lionesses are trying to pull off the biggest transfer in WSL history as they chase the two-time Ballon d’Or winner.

It is unclear whether other clubs are also in talks, but London City have been linked with the transfer of Putellas for some time and are among the favorites to land him.

They are willing to do anything to improve their ranking, including offering wages that reflect their status as one of the best players of all time.

They prepared for a big summer by starting talks with a few players in January, with the aim of strengthening the squad at the end of the season.

London City have the aim of finishing in the top three of the WSL and qualifying for the Champions League in the not too distant future, and a transfer like Putellas would be a big step in that direction.

Putellas, who not only lifted the Champions League trophy with Barcelona on Saturday, is also the blockbuster name that billionaire owner Michele Kang has been longing for.

Kang also owns Lyon, who Barcelona beat in Saturday’s final, and he knows exactly what qualities Putellas has and can help London City reach.

This year’s WSL newcomers are no ordinary club; A desire to build an independent team and a women’s football team from scratch, backed by Kang’s seemingly unlimited funds. This makes them an interesting project.

A draw is being made for Putellas in the match, under the leadership of Spanish coach Eder Maestre, where his close friend Jana Fernandez is successful here and his Barcelona teammate Mapi Leon is also expected to join London City.

However, it would be a step down from her boyhood club, whom she captained to their fourth European title, to a team that finished mid-table in the WSL this season.

It also highlights the appeal of the WSL and its rapid growth as many of the world’s best players see England as a strong league.

Putellas is a player that any club in the world would surely be happy to sign, so if London City Lionesses can pull it off it would be a remarkable achievement for the WSL club.
