City of Melville launches bid to claim AC/DC lead singer Bon Scott as its own in planned tribute
A Perth Council begins from highway to hell by planing to honor the legendary AC/DC chief singer Bon Scott.
Fremantle is regarded as Scott’s spiritual house by many people, but the neighbor Melville plans her own tribute to her.
The Melville Council voted 7-2 in favor of a proposal of Mayor Karen Wheatland at the July 15 meeting. As part of the tourism plan, the city said that he was looking for appropriate places for a permanent praise, such as giving the name a turning point like Bon Bon Scott Boulevard ”.
Local schools, artists, musicians and heritage groups will be invited to help.
AC/DC and its management will be invited to visit the City of Melville during this year’s round.
Melville’s Scott claim is that she was resting at the Fremantle Cemetery in Palmyra, a part of Melville in 1980, where she spent some of her youth there.
Canning Hightay also inspired Rock Classic Highway to Hell, and the borders of Melville were also full in the City of Melville along this road, including song, raffles and leopold hotels.
The song was implemented with the Hell Hell, which returned to the longest stage of the world to mark the 40th anniversary of Scott’s death from the Canning Motorway from the Canning Motorway in March 2020 to the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
The city of Melville established a partnership with the Pareh Festival, Fremaantle city and the town of East Fremant to present the event.
A bronze scott statue created by the artist Greg James stands at Fremantle Fishing Boat Port.
The singer went to North Fremantle Primary School and John Curtin Senior High School and learned to play the drums with Fremantle Scots pipe band.
Cr Wheatland said that Scott wanted to honor Scott’s connection with the city of Melville and map Scott’s story as a place where it really started ”.
His original movement said that Scott lived in Palmyra, but that he had been removed after doubts about it.
“It doesn’t matter whether he lives in Palmyra or Melville, but Melville is sure to be part of his legacy,” he said.
“When the last came to AC/DC Perth, I went to the grave before the concert to see if he would go there just to say hello to the group, to pay for Bon and to have a Jack Daniels. And his wife was full.
“(Fans) Flowers, lyrics, guitar choices, hats, underwear leaves. Some make pilgrims as a personal form of tribute.
“And, for all this interest, we have made little as a city and local government to embrace it from the amazing highway to hell, or reflect that heritage back to our community.
“We do not claim Bon Scott. We accept that the story ends with our care.”
Cr Jennifer Spanbroek opposed the movement because it was a tribute to Scott near the Canning Bridge, and Fremantle would step into the toes of the city.
“The reason we don’t do too much is that we know that Fremantle celebrated Bon Scott,” he said.
“There is nothing to see if they can do anything to work with them in a collaborative way when they come in December.
“I just think that it is increasingly time and effort to urban officers, and it takes them away from many other tasks they already have.”
CR Scott Green, Scott’s grave in Paris singer Jim Morrison’un doors can be a rival, he said.
“Bon Scott is probably not greater than Jim Morrison,” he said.
He also hoped that AC/DC would take the stage behind a Canning Motorway.
