All trains suspended after person hit by train near major UK airport | UK | News

Following the incident on Wednesday, May 13, services between St Albans City and Bedford came to a halt.

Thameslink warned that the outage was expected to continue until 5am as emergency services arrived at the scene.

Passengers should be aware that trains may face cancellations, delays of up to 60 minutes or revised timetables.

A spokesman for Thameslink said: “It is with great sadness that we report that a train has hit someone between Luton and Bedford.”

“All lines between these stations are closed until further notice.

“If your train is delayed between stations, please stay on board and listen for updates.

“You can also ask the staff if you need more information.

“We know where you are and we are working to get you into action as quickly as possible.

“For your safety, please do not leave the train unless instructed to do so.

“Other trains may still be running and the tracks may be very dangerous.”

The rail operator confirmed it was working with Network Rail and emergency services to handle the incident as sensitively, quickly and safely as possible.

Passengers can use Thameslink tickets at no additional cost on London Buses Night Bus routes between Elstree and Borehamwood, Central London, Croydon and Purley.

Tickets are also valid on London Northwestern Railway services running between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston, as well as early morning Thameslink and Great Northern services connecting Peterborough, Hitchin, Stevenage and London Kings Cross.
