All-Women Crew Train Flagged Off

Visakhapatnam: An all-women crew operated the Guntur-Rayagada train on Monday as part of the concluding celebrations of International Women’s Day.
The train was flagged off by Lalit Bohra, railway division manager at Visakhapatnam Railway Station.
East Coast Railway’s Waltair Division supports women’s empowerment by involving women in key roles such as track maintenance, train operations, route interlocking, locomotive operations, ticket control and administration.
DRM said that the department has formed all-women teams in locomotive sheds for locomotive maintenance, and women security teams (Meri Saheli and Subhadra Vahini) ensure the safety of women passengers at stations and trains.
He added that more than 1,600 female employees in the department work day and night and make significant contributions in various fields.
