Step Up Buggapadu Mega Food Park Works

Hyderabad:Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday expressed confidence that Buggapadu mega food park in Sattupalli mandal will emerge as a game changer for the agriculture, horticulture, aquatic and poultry sectors of erstwhile Khammam district and directed officials to launch this park by Sankranti.
Rao, who reviewed the progress of the work with industries minister D. Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat, instructed the officials to speed up basic infrastructure development. Two core processing centers (CPC) and primary processing centers (PPC) have been completed in the 60-acre park, which was approved under the PM KUSUM scheme on February 5, 2016.
The 26-acre plots have been allotted to companies like Gorlas Green Farms Pvt Ltd and Infinity Industries, and Deepak Next Gen Aqua Projects recently allotted land for an investment of ₹615 crore, which is expected to create 3,200 jobs.
Rao, who laid the foundation stone of the project as industry minister in 2016 during the previous BRS government, revived the project, which was stalled for nine years. “The previous BRS government launched this with fanfare through KTR, but it did not see full operation until our government took responsibility,” he said.
Located at Buggapadu for road, rail and port connectivity, the park aims to create a value chain from farm to market through CPC hubs supported by PPCs and Collection Centers (CCs). Rao relied on his four decades of political experience to envision agro-based industries in high-yield areas like Sattupalli and Aswaraopet.
