Alleged human trafficking case: main accused brought to Kochi

Kochi City police investigating a suspected human trafficking racket on Wednesday began interrogating Stoy C. Sindhu, the prime accused in the case.
Ms. Sindhu, a native of Kottappady near Perumbavoor, was brought from Mumbai to Maradu police station where she was arrested when she allegedly tried to flee the country after being implicated in the case.
Earlier in the day, District Superintendent of Police (Kochi City) Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar told the media that investigators were expecting to find out the details and modus operandi of those operating the alleged trafficking network while questioning Ms. Sindhu.
He said that two more women abroad should be arrested in the case. Meanwhile, police sources said they will investigate whether the survivors were also used as carriers for gold smuggling.
Ms. Sindhu is suspected of playing a key role in running a racket where she allegedly lured women from Kerala to Dubai with the promise of modeling opportunities and later sexually exploited them.
Besides Ms. Sindhu, Maradu police also arrested Aleena Abraham from Ponguvila, Thiruvananthapuram and Manjima from Ponnani.
Police registered the case after two victims complained that they were forcibly confined to their Dubai apartment and subjected to repeated harassment.
