Alleged machete-wielding thug hospitalised after slicing hand during rampage with brother through Northbridge

A man has been taken to hospital after accidentally cutting his own hand while wielding a machete during an attack on Northbridge in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police allege a 24-year-old man, armed with a machete, and his 23-year-old brother, who was carrying a tire iron, chased two men on Francis Street at around 2.20am.
The alleged targets managed to escape and took refuge in a nearby karaoke bar, where security personnel blocked the entrance.
About 25 minutes later, officers arrested the brothers on Lake Street. Police said a tire iron was found during a search of their Mazda.
Both men appeared in court this morning. The 24-year-old, who allegedly brandished the machete, appeared via video link from hospital while recovering from a hand injury.
As part of their bail conditions, the brothers were banned from Northbridge.
If convicted, police could seek a restraining order banning them from the protected entertainment district for up to five years.
