Alleged opening of material room: CEO told to take action

The Kerala High Court has passed an interim order directing the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to take action within three days on the alleged opening of the supply room adjacent to the safe room at the JDT Islamic Educational Complex, where electronic voting machines (EVMs) from eight Assembly constituencies in Kozhikode are stored.

This follows a request from Kozhikode District Congress Committee president K. Praveenkumar, who also contested as a UDF candidate from Koyilandi constituency and demanded action against the returning officers concerned. He claimed that the supply room was opened on April 20 by the returning officers, who reportedly also carried laptops with them when entering the room.
