Alleged scooter bandit targets delivery driver at stop light in Penrith
Dashcam footage captured the moment an alleged scooter bandit jumped from the back of a bike, knocked a food delivery driver off his scooter and then stole the vehicle in a “brazen” robbery at stoplights.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with stolen vehicle and weapons offenses in connection with the incident in Sydney’s west on Monday afternoon and has been bailed to appear in juvenile court on December 15.
The teenager was arrested by police on patrol in Cranebrook shortly after the alleged robbery at the intersection of Copeland Street and Parker Street in Penrith.
The delivery man’s scooter and mobile phone were also seized.
The search for at least three people continues.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon told 2GB on Wednesday the daytime robbery was an organized and brazen attack.
“The fact that their faces were covered while doing this shows that this was planned,” Lanyon said.
Footage of the incident shows two men on a scooter pulling up next to the delivery man before the passenger jumped from behind and knocked the driver off the bike.
A second scooter enters the frame, the masked rider approaches the victim, the leaping passenger grabs his scooter and walks away as a third scooter bandit approaches from the footpath.
