Altona Life Saving Club pays tribute to victims
As Australia mourns the tragedies at Bondi, lifesaving organizations across the country are gathering to remember the victims and honor those who risked everything to help protect others.
Standing silently on the beach they took the time to protect, dozens of members of the Altona Lifesaving Club gathered to remember their fellow lifeguards and lifeguards involved in the December 14 terrorist attack.

On Saturday morning on the beach, alongside local police officers and firefighters, the club observed a three-minute silence in memory of the 15 innocent victims who lost their lives, those who were injured and those who tried desperately to help.
On the day of the Bondi massacre, the beach’s famous lifeguards rushed to assist with the carnage, risking their own lives as they treated the injured and carried terrified people to safety.
Many of the lifeguards were among the first responders who carried the injured to the lawn outside their club. off-duty doctors nearby He treated the injured.

“I think how much the Bondi club will be affected after this,” patrol captain Alice Henry, 21, said.
“They just did the most amazing job. They volunteered their time and went above and beyond what was stated in our quote-unquote job description. They went to incredible lengths to protect the community.”
Patrol assistant captain and support instructor Jeremy Cassar, 17, said Bondi lifeguards should be applauded for their quick response.
