Irreparable loss to Indian music: President Murmu on Pandit Chhannulal Mishra’s death

President Droupadi Murmu said that the death of famous classic singer Pandit Channulal Mishra on 2 October 2025 Thursday caused irreparable losses in Indian music.

Pandit Mishra, a luminaire of Banaras Gharana, has brought new dimensions to classical songs. The President was awarded Padma Vibhushan with many other honors in a mission in X.

Pandit Mishra died of age in the early hours of Thursday, October 2, 2025 at his daughter’s Uttar Pradesh’s house in Mirzapur. He was 89 years old.

“The death of the famous classic singer Pandit Channulal Mishra Ji created an irreparable loss in Indian music.” He said.

“I wish your loved ones and fans the deepest condolences.” He said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished condolences to Mishra’s family and greeted the vocalist for an invaluable contribution to Indian arts.

In a condolence message published in X, PM Modi said that it is a good fortune to always receive love and blessings, and that Mishra was one of the proposal of his candidacy from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in 2014.

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief in the death of Mishra.
