Trainee bus driver plunges her coach into river in ‘handling error’ after missing her turn

A bus driven by an intern flew into France’s River Seine this morning after crashing into a parked car.
According to local media reports, the driver is said to have made a handling error after missing his turn while leaving the Juvisy bus terminal.
There were four people on board, including the instructor and two passengers, when the incident occurred at 9.30am local time (8.30am BST).
When the vehicle started to sink, passersby rushed to its aid and everyone was rescued. Authorities did not provide detailed information about their condition.
One of those pulled from the water was helped onto a nearby houseboat.
Natacha said she heard a woman from the houseboat screaming in the water and threw a lifebuoy at her.
‘He caught him. “Two people helped me pull him up the stairs, then police and fire crews attended to him,” he said.
‘He was so shocked, he froze and injured his hand. ‘The poor woman thought she was going to die.’

Eyewitnesses said members of the river rowing club were among the first to help those in the water.
“As the bus was leaving the terminal, the driver lost control and crashed into a parked car,” Juvisy-sur-Orge mayor Lamia Bensarsa Reda said.
Reda said he was ‘stunned’ by the accident.
‘This is the first time I see something like this. I think I just had the worst day of my life.
“Thanks to the rapid response of the police and emergency services, luckily there was no loss of life,” he said.

‘They reacted very quickly and were able to get people to safety.’
It is expected that an investigation will be launched to determine the exact cause of the incident as soon as possible.
