India’s famous off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to participate in the entire Big Bash League season with Sydney Thunder. This move follows Ashwin’s unsold status in the ILT20 auction, where his base price was $120,000. Rather than lowering his asking price, he accepted this outcome. Ravichandran Ashwin created history by becoming the first capped Indian male player to participate in the BBL. This opportunity arose after he announced his retirement from international cricket and IPL, thereby lifting the BCCI’s restrictions on active, contracted players participating in overseas leagues. Ashwin’s schedule currently revolves around the BBL; His expected debut will be against the Hurricanes in Hobart on December 16, followed by his home debut in the Sydney Smash at Engie Stadium on December 20.
