Vanilla Ice reveals Hawaii time management course stopped him from voting

Rob Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice, explained why he didn’t vote on a new episode of “Hang Out with Sean Hannity.”
“I’m not voting,” the rapper told host Sean Hannity. “My opinion doesn’t mean anything. I’m just Vanilla Ice.”
Vanilla Ice rarely speaks publicly about politics and recently defended his decision to perform at the Freedom 250 concert, which critics described as political.

Although the concert was canceled due to weather conditions, he said his participation was due to his love for the country.

The “Ice Ice Baby” singer said a lesson she learned during a time management course in Hawaii influenced her decision not to exercise her right to vote.
“I don’t vote because I took that class and they said, ‘They don’t pay you to vote. They don’t pay you to have an opinion on anybody. They don’t pay you to stand in line or drive and gas to get there. And all that time adds up.'”

Vanilla Ice said the instructor then told the class, “You’ve wasted nine years of your life,” and then asked the participants if they would take that time back if they could.

“Everyone on the course raised their hand. And they said, ‘What would you do now?'” Vanilla Ice said, before explaining that the instructor asked how they would spend the time they used to vote. “they ask.”

The 58-year-old artist said the class reminded him that time is precious, so he chose to spend his time doing the things he loves instead of voting.
“I could do so much more, but I’m doing this? How did I get caught up in this?” he said.

Vanilla Ice has said that one of the reasons he stays out of politics is his tendency not to take life too seriously.
“I don’t take anything I say seriously,” he said. “It’s just something to think about. That’s the way I look at things.”
