– Livigno: American skier Lindsey Vonn crashed nine days after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament in women’s downhill skiing at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.
The 41-year-old former Olympic champion defied science and expectations to start the competition, but a devastating fall 13 seconds into Sunday’s medal race ended her hopes of capturing another Olympic medal.

Vonn hit the snow hard, lay motionless after breaking the flag, and collapsed on the first part of the trail as medical personnel rushed to help.
American fans and coaches shared horrified looks as they watched on, while competition leader teammate Breezy Johnson had his head in his hands.
A helicopter is currently arriving at the course to remove Vonn from the competition area.
