I’m 78-years-old and my memory is ‘razor sharp’—I do 5 things every day

Regardless of your age, you may have experienced a difficulty in occasional memory.

Now, after working as a professor of education for more than thirty years, I retired. However, I am still 78 years old, I am still writing books (more than 175 and counting), I make professional presentations and I write blog about psychology.
These are five practices that keep my memory sharp:
1. I go out regularly and socialize

When we spend time with relatives, when we frequently talks with your friends, when we participate in community groups, we are volunteer to eat with colleagues or voluntarily for social reasons, we develop both our mental welfare and cognitive skills.
My wife and I travel regularly with the best friends and eat, we volunteer in a regional art association and often a local social club.

2. I am a lifetime student
I am a great belief in a wide range of reading and outside your expertise. It can be one of the most important things we can do Renew our natural curiosity.
When we wonder, we want to learn more. In this quest, we keep our minds active and busy.

3. I found an organization system that works for me
Enter my office and you will see a number of post-it grades. I use a color coding system to follow my daily responsibilities.
Yellow for the articles I work on, blue for certain sections in a book, green for medical reminders (prescription fillings, doctor appointments), orange for home tasks and pink for footwork (grocery products, hardware store).
I stumbled throughout this system while working on a new book. I accidentally wrote preliminary notes for some sections of different colored adhesive notes and my plan for the book was immediately clearer. I realized that I could use this approach for other aspects of my life, and this made a big difference.
4. I am physically active every day
Daily physical activity increases blood flow to all parts of your body, including your brain. Shows studies Regular and continuous exercise is particularly associated with better brain functioning in terms of memory.
For most adults, typical suggestion is at least 150 minutes a week Middle aerobic activity. This includes a brisk hiking, swimming, pickle ball, tennis or serious horticulture.
I swim two to three dozen rounds in the community center and walk one to two miles in the days. The key is to do some kind of physical activity every day. It is useful even 10 to 15 minutes per day.
5. I’m doing a healthy diet
Diet, hydration and sleep is very important for your brain health. Every night at least seven hours (11:00 – 18:00) I’m sure I get sleep.
I consume heart-health Think of nutrient-rich diet-fruits, dark-leaf green vegetables, whole wheat grains, seeds, hazelnuts, soybeans, omega-3 fish full of salmon and other lean proteins.

Ultimately, I’m approaching to protect and develop my memory as if it were a full -time job. I show it every day. I wonder and I’m productive. I made an effort to my relationships. I’m not afraid to ask for help, but I trust what I know. Never underestimate the power of those who prioritize their memories.
