America’s TSA officers receive third empty paycheck as DHS shutdown hardships mount

FIRST ON FOX — Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers receive their third zero-dollar paycheck Friday as the DHS shutdown continues — President Donald Trump said late Thursday he would sign an executive order to “immediately pay our TSA Agents to address this Emergency” and “quickly stop the Democrat Chaos at Airports.”

TSA exclusively shared with Fox News Digital the stories of officers working at various airports across the country who are experiencing great personal hardship as a result of the closure, whose names are omitted for privacy reasons.

A clerk at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia’s dream of owning a home was suddenly shattered, forcing him to make life-changing decisions.

His bank refused to give him a mortgage in Georgia because he was currently unable to make his rent payments.

The officer now has to travel nearly 1,000 miles to live with his family in New York.

A fire broke out in a house without receiving a salary

Another TSA officer working at Tulsa International Airport in Oklahoma suffered a devastating house fire last week, along with the hardships of not being paid.

As a result, he lost his home, belongings, car and beloved pet.

Now he and his family have to rebuild their lives without knowing when he will be paid.

No electricity, can’t be restored

Another TSA officer had uprooted his life to move to New York to work at Albany International Airport.

Now, due to consecutive closures and not being able to receive a regular salary, his credit score has dropped from 800 to 500.

He moved into a camper to survive, the agency reported. The power in the caravan has been out ever since and he can’t afford to have it fixed.

Houses and cars damaged, cannot be repaired

At the beginning of the month, powerful storms ripped through Michigan; tornadoes destroyed some homes and caused widespread damage throughout the Great Lake State.

The homes and vehicles of many TSA officers working at Detroit Metropolitan Airport were damaged. TSA told Fox News Digital today that those officers cannot afford to fix the problems.

Serious unpaid medical expenses

A TSA agent working at Portland International Airport in Oregon is his mother’s sole caregiver. He also supports his brother.

Now his mother has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and his brother has a serious leg infection, leaving him unemployed.

The TSA officer is responsible for the medical expenses of these family members.

Can’t afford Easter baskets for her kids

A TSA agent at Bismarck Airport in North Dakota has worked there for nearly 10 years and endured multiple government shutdowns.

This year, she had to make the difficult choice to leave the job she loved after realizing she couldn’t even afford to buy an Easter basket for her children.

More than 480 TSA officers have been forced to quit their jobs since the beginning of the partial government shutdown.

The agent realized that she couldn’t afford to buy Easter baskets for her children this year.

“I can tell you right now that the repercussions from this will be long-lasting,” TSA Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl told Fox News Digital this week.

“They will continue for days” [even] “Especially after we get reappropriations and funding for TSA.”

“We are already taking proactive measures to ensure we pay our employees as quickly as possible,” he added.
