Andhra CRDA Approves HC Infrastructure Works, Amaravati Economic Region Plan
Amaravati: APCRDA on Saturday approved infrastructure works worth Rs 547.07 billion near the Supreme Court premises and gave approval for preparation of a development plan for the proposed Amaravati Economic Zone covering nine districts. The decisions were taken at the 61st Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, where 18 agenda items related to the development of the capital were discussed and approved.
“APCRDA has approved major infrastructure works around the Supreme Court and preparation of a road map for Amaravati Economic Zone stretching from Eluru to Prakasam districts,” Naidu said in an official statement. he said.
He directed the officials to undertake urban mobility planning in Amaravati in line with the requirements of a future-ready capital city.
The authority approved the infrastructure works related to the Supreme Court complex at an estimated cost of Rs 547.07 billion and also accepted the proposal to set up a Giant Observation Wheel on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis under the Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) model to promote tourism.
It also approved preparation of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for formulating a development plan for Amaravati Economic Zone, which will cover nine districts from Eluru to Prakasam.
Naidu directed officials to prepare comprehensive development plans for the proposed economic zone and ensure that economic activity remains an important component of planning in the capital.
The authority has approved the setting up of a special tribunal to resolve disputes related to buildings and unauthorized constructions in Amaravati and has also given the green signal to set up a mediation centre.
It also approved the creation of an independent fire regulation system that would enable the CRDA to establish its own Fire Wing and issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The authority also approved the installation of ATMs and kiosks in plots affected by road disruptions in Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) schemes and development of an Urban Gas Distribution Network through PPP or joint venture mode.
Under the Negotiable Settlement Policy, it agreed to allocate up to five cents of land within village settlement areas to beneficiaries who have uninhabitable land.
The Prime Minister instructed officials to develop housing complexes for lower and middle-income groups in accordance with World Bank and Asian Development Bank guidelines.
The Authority also approved the cancellation of the existing Tabreed contract for the District Cooling System and authorized new tenders.
Additionally, registration fees were waived for 495 farmers in LPS schemes whose allocation codes changed following new allocations.
Naidu also instructed officials to install a central cooling system for buildings and offices in Amaravati and raise public awareness about new technologies adopted in the Blue-Green City project.
He suggested that every district in the capital region should become a hub for work-from-home facilities, livable communities and business activity.
The CM also directed officials to expedite the development of hotels and convention centers and ensure that hospitals in Amaravati provide accommodation facilities for attendants accompanying patients.
