Andhra Pradesh Tops Key Sectors: RBI Report

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner in many key sectors, according to the latest report released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which highlights the state’s strong performance in agriculture, fisheries, economic growth and social indicators.

The report puts Andhra Pradesh first in the country in fruit production with a production of 19.3 million tonnes, making it the largest fruit-producing state in the country. The state also achieved the top spot in fish production with an impressive record of 5.158 million tonnes, highlighting its dominance in the fisheries sector.

On the economic front, Andhra Pradesh has shown steady progress. The state’s gross state domestic product (GSDP) for the financial year 2024-25 is estimated at 15.93 lakh crore rupees. GDP per capita stands at Rs 2.66 lakh, reflecting sustainable economic activity and income growth.

In terms of energy availability, Andhra Pradesh ranks 14th in the country with per capita electricity availability at 1,481 units. The RBI report also highlights the state’s encouraging health indicators, with life expectancy recorded at 70 years. While the life expectancy of men is 68 years, the life expectancy of women is higher at 73 years.

In achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Andhra Pradesh ranked 10th nationally with 74 points along with the other Telugu state.

The RBI findings underline Andhra Pradesh’s balanced progress in economic, agricultural and social sectors.
