Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested with 38 new sexual offence charges | World | News

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in the US after police investigated a string of sexual offences.
Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, were arrested in Miami yesterday (Saturday, July 18).
The influencers have been detained pending ongoing legal proceedings as 38 new charges have been laid against the duo.
The charges were previously authorized by the CPS following a dossier of evidence presented by officers from Bedfordshire Police into allegations dating back to 2012.
Further investigations by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit brought the total number of charges against the brothers to 59.
Of these, 42 were directed at Andrew Tate and 17 were directed at Tristan Tate.
The CPS also prosecuted Andrew and Tristan Tate for other offences, including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offenses relating to indecent images of a child.
Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas said: “Officers from our serious crime unit are working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service and both national and international law enforcement as part of this complex investigation.
“We understand the interest this case will generate, but we urge the public not to speculate and allow the legal process to be carried out properly.
“There is no place for male violence against women and girls and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us.”
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it was requesting the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate from the US.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS’s Special Crime Section, said: “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for other offences, including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and offenses relating to indecent images of a child.
“These charging decisions follow the receipt of a new evidence file from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven.”
The CPS said the attack was alleged to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.
He added: “The CPS has requested the Tates’ extradition from the US. They have been arrested and are awaiting extradition to the UK.”
