Andrew ‘dismissive’ of royal butler and only royal ‘not to talk to him | Royal | News

A former Palace staffer said Andrew was “dismissive” towards the royal butler and that he was the only member of the Royal Family who “didn’t talk” to him. Grant Harrold was a royal butler to King Charles between 2004 and 2011 when he was Prince of Wales.

During this time, Mr Harrold worked at various royal events and appeared as a guest at some social events, including the King’s wedding to the now Queen Camilla in 2005. Although he has good relationships with many royals, Mr Harrold said Andrew was not one of them.

The former prince, who was stripped of his titles earlier this week amid ongoing scandals, was reportedly not “rude” but “condescending” towards Mr Harrold during his time as a butler.

She describes her experiences with Andrew In Great Britain NewsMr Harrold said: “The character I remember was unfortunately never rude to me but as I was there as a butler he was quite dismissive.

“There was never any conversation. She was the only royal I never had a conversation with, even in a social situation.”

He continued: “He didn’t talk to you because you were staff, he was always so dismissive, never rude.”

Mr Harrold is reportedly not the only staff member who feels this way about Andrew.

Royal author Andrew Lownie wrote in his book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York that he was told by a source that Andrew’s attitude was that his staff were “there to serve and not to question their actions”.

Paul Page, who worked as a police protection officer for the Royal Family from 1998 to 2004, also said Andrew had the nickname “shit” in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia.

She explained: “He was just rude and arrogant. I mean, his sense of self-sufficiency was breathtaking. He treated staff in an insulting way.”
