Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s new home ‘is empty run down farm which needs refurb’ | Royal | News

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has agreed to give up his lease on the Royal Lodge after years of pressure from the King and Royal Family. He will reportedly be moving into a vacant, dilapidated farm that is in need of major renovations. The sprawling but dilapidated Marsh Farm lies about seven miles west of the King’s Sandringham estate. The no-fly zone on the Sandringham estate was recently extended to include the area above the former farm.

The once functioning property consists of a main house with two reception rooms and a kitchen, as well as several outbuildings, and is in need of extensive refurbishment. Buckingham Palace refused to comment on Andrew’s new home, which is expected to be privately funded by the King, citing data protection regulations.

The Palace said they would not name the King’s brother’s new home because he is a “private citizen” and Sandringham is “private property”.

A palace official added: “We will not name the property due to GDPR and privacy rights.

“There are also significant safety issues.”

Andrew was subsequently stripped of his royal duties and no longer uses the titles of Duke or Prince, and his knighthood in the Order of the Garter was also revoked. These moves followed The Sun’s report on Sunday alleging that she continued to correspond with Jeffrey Epstein even months after he announced that all communication had ceased.

In recent weeks the Royal Family and the Crown Estate have come under criticism for their favorable rent arrangements. Andrew has reportedly not paid rent for two decades, while Edward and Sophie are understood to have occupied the 120-room Bagshot Park property in Surrey under a nominal “pepper rent” arrangement.

After years of pressure from the King and the Royal Family, Andrew agreed to give up his lease on the Royal Lodge, even though he had previously been told he had a legally sound tenancy.

Marsh Farm is a large vacant lot near a church and old railway station in Wolferton. The gardens overlook Dersingham Bog, where the royal filming took place, and views from The Wash extend to the sea.

An insider told The Sun: “Andrew has been told he’s headed to Marsh Farm. “There’s a lot of work to be done before this place is habitable.

“This means we will have to wait a long time for him to leave the Royal Lodge.”
