Andrew’s life ‘torn apart after little-known TV moment’ | Royal | News

This is because royals should keep a low profile during general elections.
writes royal expert Robert Hardman in his book ‘Elizabeth II In Private’. The late Queen knew she had no choice but to withdraw her second-born child from public life when his name was mentioned in a debate by political leaders, she told The Inside Story.
As WalesOnline reportsMr Hardman claimed: “Even when it arose as a question in a televised debate involving party leaders, the Queen (Elizabeth II) knew she had no choice.
“She, along with the Prince of Wales, saw no alternative but to remove Andrew from public life. After all, public duties are only useful when the public wants to see someone, as that clearly did not happen in this case.”
Andrew’s statement announcing he was stepping back from royal duties was published on 20 November 2019.
He wrote: “Over the last few days it has become clear to me that the circumstances surrounding my former relationship with Jeffrey Epstein have become a major disruption to the work of my family and the valuable work carried out by the many organizations and charities I am proud to support.
“Therefore, I asked His Majesty if I could withdraw from public duties in the near future, and he gave permission.
“I continue to absolutely regret my ill-judged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide left many unanswered questions, especially for his victims, and I have deep sympathy for all those affected and seeking some form of closure. I can only hope that in time they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am prepared to assist any appropriate law enforcement agencies with their investigations if necessary.”
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing or accusations regarding his past friendship with Epstein.
