Work on New Telangana Haj Building at Mamidipally to Begin Shortly

Hyderabad: Construction work on the two-acre Telangana Haj (Rubath) building at Mamidipally near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport will begin shortly. The government took up the work as the existing Hajj House in Nampally could not accommodate large number of pilgrims during the Hajj camp.
Telangana Waqf Board CEO Muhammad Assadullah, who serves as the executive officer of the Hajj Committee, visited Karnataka to review the Bengaluru Hajj House model.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over the custody of the Pilgrim House in Nampally. Former member of the Hajj Committee, Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri, an elected member of the Telangana Waqf Board, said that the Haj House has not been handed over to the management of the Hajj Committee, which is governed under the Central Hajj Act.
Now, he said, there is a push to build a new Hajj House in Mamidipally on the premises of another Waqf institution, Baba Sharfuddin Sahib Pahadi Rehmatullah Ali Dargah.
Quadri said Wuzu Khana, toilet blocks and other facilities at the Hajj House were in poor condition. According to Quadri, only minor repairs were carried out every year just before the Hajj season. Quadri said ownership and custody of the Hajj House should be clearly defined and handed over to the Hajj Committee.
