Andy Dick admits crack cocaine use, refuses treatment after apparent LA overdose

Despite the horrific incident in Los Angeles earlier this week, Andy Dick refuses to go to rehab.
The troubled comedian, 59, apparently overdosed on a street in his neighborhood on Tuesday and spoke to him Wednesday night. TMZ about what happened.
When the publicist asked him about seeking professional help, Dick, holding a glass and slurring his words, replied: “Should I call Dr. Drew again when he says ‘professional’?”

Dick has worked with the doctor and addiction specialist multiple times, including on “Celebrity Rehab” in 2008, but he didn’t seem sincere about reaching out to him for help at this time.
When the question is asked again, “Do I need help? Do we all need help? Do you need help?”
TMZ asked him if he felt like he was in a good place right now, and he replied emphatically, “I like it.” They asked him specifically if he planned to go to rehab, and he said, “F— no.”
During the meeting, two of his friends sat next to him and said that they tried to get him into rehab but to no avail. He made disgusted faces as they talked about it, and when TMZ asked him, “But you don’t want to go to rehab,” Dick said, “I don’t outgoing being in rehab.”
On December 9, TMZ shared a video of Dick sitting on a Los Angeles street with his glasses slumped on the ground in front of him. His friends who were recording the video tried to wake him up, but he fell back, appearing unconscious.
Someone administered Narcan, a nasal spray that can reverse overdoses. The Los Angeles Fire Department told TMZ that paramedics responded to the scene, but he was not taken to the hospital.

When Dick spoke to the outlet, he said he went out with his friends but managed to escape. While alone, she found a man using crack cocaine and decided to try some.
“I wanted to see what you were doing,” he said. “I also don’t mind taking a little crack every now and then.”

This isn’t the first time Dick has publicly struggled with addiction.
In 1999, the “NewsRadio” actor was arrested after crashing his car into a utility pole in Los Angeles. He was hit with numerous charges, including driving while intoxicated and possession of cocaine, but the charges were ultimately dismissed when he completed a drug treatment program.

He was arrested multiple times in the following years and was convicted in 2022 of misdemeanor sexual assault stemming from a 2018 incident with an Uber driver. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender.
