India continues to buy more from China as cheap exports pour in

India’s imports from China rose to a large extent by Bloomberg, according to Bloomberg, the apple suppliers, which shifted from China to India, rose to $ 12.5 billion last month. Nevertheless, despite being moved to India, these companies are largely dependent on Chinese parts and teams and the increase in exports from Beijing.

Only in July 2025, China sent approximately 1 billion dollars of computer chips to India. Furthermore, billions of phones and components were sent to support electronic installation throughout India.

The data published by Beijing show that China’s exports to India this year are on the road to overcome last year’s record and that the total is almost matched for 2021.

“China has performed better than expected in the first half, Dedi said Jpmorgan Chase & Co. to the head of Indian Economist Sajjid Chinoy Bloomberg Television. “Some of these are the fact that China has found other export markets very wisely, including Europe, a key fence to slow down exports to the United States.”

India-China Trade

India’s trust in Chinese goods contributed to the country’s largest trade deficit with a single nation. According to the Indian Embassy in Beijing, imports from China in 2024-25 were $ 113.46 billion, while India’s exports to China was only $ 14.25 billion and left a deficit of $ 99.21 billion. In the last decade, this imbalance has constantly expanded:

  • 2014-15: Trade deficit 48.45 billion dollars
  • 2017-18: 63.05 billion dollars
  • 2021-22: 73.01 billion dollars
  • 2024-25: 99,21 billion dollars

India’s cumulative imports from China rose from $ 60.41 billion in 2014-15 to $ 113.46 billion in 2024-25. Meanwhile, the exports to China remained low and variable and remained between $ 9 billion and $ 21 billion in the same period.
In the last five years, India’s exports have been largely based on raw material-based, iron ore, slightly naphtha, p-kisilen, shrimp and castor oil. Chinese exports, electronics, machines, personal computers, monolithic integrated circuits, telecommunication equipment, lithium ion batteries and fertilizers with more and more dominated the Indian markets.

Global trade shifts increase China’s access

The increase in exports comes in the midst of Trump tariffs that restrict China’s access to the US market. According to the Bloomberg report, despite high tariffs, Chinese manufacturers have expanded their presence in alternative markets, including India, Southeast Asia and Africa.

Exports to these regions set new records: India’s purchases have reached the highest level of all time in August 2025, and shipments to Africa exceeded the peaks of sales to Southeast Asia for annual record and sales to Southeast Asia.

China’s global strategy seems to work.

“China found other export markets very wisely, including Europe, which is a key fence to slow down exports to the United States, Chin Chinoy said. Bloomberg economic analysts Chang Shu and David Quic, Beijing’s ability to return, helps tampons against united pressures of US tariffs, internal economic challenges, and aging population.

Trade figures emphasized India’s increasing dependence

According to the Economic Completion Observatory (OEC), India imported goods of about $ 10.9 billion in July 2025 only from China and increased by 6.04% compared to the same month last year.

On the other hand, Indian officials increased the fight against decline. In recent weeks, it reflects concerns about cheap imports according to domestic markets by making 50 applications for investigations from China and Vietnam, referring to Bloomberg resources.

India’s record imports from China underline a wider global trade reorganization. The country benefits from the displacement of high -tech installation, such as Apple iPhones, but it is largely connected to Chinese parts and teams.

It emphasizes a trading deficit of $ 100 billion and a sensitive balancing action of cheap Chinese goods: India earns gains from global supply chains, but stems from over -relying on China.
