Woman Murdered Before Husband In Sangareddy

Four unidentified assailants dragged a woman into the bushes and slit her throat in front of her husband, killing her in IDA Bolaram police limits in Sangareddy district late on Saturday night.

The couple, Anil Kumar, 37, and Meena Devi, 35, natives of Bihar, were returning to their home in Venkateshwara Colony after buying vegetables in Shanthakulam when their bike broke down near Gandigudem sports complex around 9.30 pm, police said.

Armed men hiding in the bushes in the dark blocked the bike’s path. While the two restrained Anil, the others pulled Meena Devi into the bushes. Despite his cries for help, one of the attackers held his hands while the other killed him.

Anıl, who tried to resist, was also attacked with a dagger. The attackers then fled on bicycles with their headlights off, down a side road near the sports complex.

A police officer said, “We suspect that it was a pre-planned murder. The injured Anil was taken to a private hospital and his statement was taken. Two special teams were formed to track down and arrest the attackers.”

Investigators say the couple moved to the city a few years ago and Anil worked as a contractor at a roller mill. Police suspect that past enmity between known people of Meena Devi may have led to the crime.

A case of murder and attempted murder has been registered. The victim’s body was taken to Sangareddy government hospital for post-mortem. “Due to unavailability of CCTV cameras, the investigation is being conducted using human intelligence and scientific evidence,” said Moola Ravinder Reddy, SHO of IDA Bolaram police station.
