Angelina Jolie celebrated her 51st birthday with her children on Thursday after son Maddox became the last of estranged father Brad Pitt’s sons to officially drop his surname.
The actress opted for a casual look with a gray sweater, trousers and glasses as she headed to Los Angeles with her sons, 17-year-old Knox and 22-year-old Pax.
Knox showed off her bold new orange and red hair, paired with a cream shirt and white tracksuit bottoms, as she helped her mother unload items from the car.
Pax was seen chatting with Jolie as the family prepared to celebrate her special day.
The trip comes after the Daily Mail confirmed that Jolie’s eldest son Maddox, 24, requested the legal removal of ‘Pitt’ from his surname last month, changing his full name to Maddox Chivan Jolie and citing the reason as ‘personal’.
Maddox unofficially dropped her surname in February when she was listed as Maddox Jolie instead of Maddox Jolie-Pitt in the end credits of her mother’s film, Couture.

In a heartbreaking blow to the Oscar-winning actor, who has become estranged from his children, Maddox has joined several of his siblings in moving away from the Pitt name after his sister Shiloh changed her legal name last year.
Her other sisters, Zahara (21) and Vivienne (17), also unofficially dropped the name.
Pitt and Jolie, 62, were married from 2014 to 2019, but their relationship came to a tumultuous end years before their divorce was finalized.
The Daily Mail reached out to Pitt’s representatives for comment at the time.
This sighting took place after Knox, Pax, and Maddox’s sister Zahara were spotted at her graduation from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia; but there was no sign of Pitt, whose surname Zahara once again abandoned at the ceremony.
Her twin, Vivienne, and 20-year-old Shiloh Knox were welcomed during Jolie’s relationship with Pitt, which ended in divorce in 2016.
Zahara first publicly dropped Pitt’s surname at the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority initiation ceremony in late 2023.

Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in their divorce and later accused Pitt of abusing both her and their children, which he denied.
Their long and contentious divorce battle was finalized in late 2024, and most of their children have since dropped Pitt’s surname due to the ongoing estrangement.
Shiloh also goes by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, who is preparing paperwork to legally remove her estranged father’s surname from her own when she turns 18 in the summer of 2024.
Later in February, Maddox removed Pitt, who was featured as Maddox Jolie in production notes for Couture and screenings of Maria, from his professional credits.
In May 2024, Vivienne was featured as Vivienne Jolie, not Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, in the playbill for the Broadway musical The Outsiders.
Pitt made a shocking revelation about his family after his bitter divorce from Jolie was officially finalized, but his fractured relationship with his six children remains unresolved.
Pitt, who believes his relationship with his two children is “irreparable”, spoke about how important family is to him amid his growing estrangement from his children.
‘Whatever the mistake, just learn from it [it] and keep going,’ he told ET. “This will lead to the next success,” the actor said at the F1 premiere in Mexico City.

The Oscar-winning actor continued: ‘When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with people you love, people who love you.’
‘Friends, family and that’s it,’ he added. ‘We’ll go do something from there. I think it’s a pretty simple equation.’
The interview comes after a source told the Daily Mail how Pitt felt after Pax was photographed staggering out of the Chateau Marmont with the support of several friends last month.
‘He doesn’t care at all about what Pax does or doesn’t do. [Pax’s] An insider said his actions reflect who he is.
