Tom Odell on the lesson he learnt from Billie Eilish and Finneas

Even the best artists have bad days. When Tom Odell played the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2016, he wrote the concert as a DUD.

“I wasn’t really satisfied with this show,” he remembers. “I was disappointed and I don’t think I want him to go. I don’t even think it’s a crowded.”

But that night he was an 18 -year -old musician named Finneas O’Connell and his little sister Billie Eilish that night.

A few months ago, they uploaded a demo song to SoundCloud. Something about Odell’s performance changed the orbit of their lives.

“I was already a fan,” O’Connell said, “But I watched the show he wore, and the band was amazing and his songs were amazing.

“I give this demonstration as the reason I want to start putting music in my own step.”

Odell, who was the audience that night, was surprised.

“It was really moving to me, because my career wasn’t always easy, or he says.

Eilish and O’Connell never forgot the debt. In early this summer, Eilish asked Odell to open the world tour of the world. They have more shows planned in 2027.

“He wasn’t even the first single,” he laughs, “but in Tiktok’s wonderful world, there was really a little attracting people’s attention.”

Black Friday’s success gave Odell a new freedom when he came to put his new album to a great life.

The album does not offer any solution, only observations.

“There is a tension that is solved when you start answering something, and the best songs for me are songs that leave you with more questions, or he says.

Odell says he is inspired by Leonard Cohen’s goal.
