Family-owned Texas restaurant works to feed first responders: 'We're thankful for them'

Kerrville, Texas – Business owners in Texas round their arms to serve those who serve others.
The first intervention teams cook Hill Country Favorites for Billy Gene’s owners and staff, men and women who help their communities, while working for the comb with debris and destruction.
Crystal Smith, the owner of Billy Gene’s and Billy Gene’s, said to Fox News Digital, “we just started the day.” “We knew they were out, we knew they would work 24/7, so we could help the community.”
Smith praised the men and women who came to the region after being sweeping to the area during the weekend.

The first intervention teams appeared for famous meals and left them full and happy, according to Smith.
“Everyone wants to come, they want a homemade meal. People give us hugs and get a meal that says ‘thank you’. And we will be really grateful for them, we are grateful for them,” he said.

The restaurant was founded by his mother -in -law about 30 years ago and when they decided to retire 10 years ago, Crystal and Ty Smith took over. For the last 10 years, Kerrville has been clearly a local favorite because the best multifaceted foods have been selected and the best chicken has been selected since 2007.
When the community was asked not only to help each other, but also the first intervention teams, Smith said it was part of Texas’s “soul”.
Smith, “We wear our boots and start work. We do this in the hill country, this is what we do in Texas. This is our soul.” He said.

Janyce Carcher, who was born and raised in Kerrville, Texas, spoke to Fox News Digital while waiting for her husband, a retired firefighter Billy Gene’s.
“This was much worse than we lived in our entire life in Kerrville,” Carcher said. He said. “Even in 1978 we had about 20 -inch rain, but it didn’t make the destruction, and we didn’t see the destruction we saw here today.”
Carcher believes that he will go through a disaster thanks to Kerrville’s “tight -bound community”.

Smith is not alien to the collapse of the floods. Despite the landing in a steep position, Fox News showed digital debris behind the restaurant, including a picnic table he said before the flood. Smith said they were trying to sort the items in the wreckage to return to their right holders.
Although Billy Gene did not suffer damage in the flood, a staff lost everything. He said Billy Gene’s provides a place to stay for the employee and her husband and meets food costs.
