Animesh Clocks Fastest 100m by an Indian Overseas, Finishes 2nd in Germany

Wetzlar: Commonwealth Games sprinter Animesh Kujur clocked the fastest 100 meters time ever by an Indian on foreign soil, finishing second in the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event, Fast Arms Fast Legs. The 23-year-old crossed the finish line with a personal best effort of 10.14 seconds in the final, bettering his 10.19 second effort in the heats earlier on Friday.

This timing is the second fastest ever by an Indian, after Gurindervir Singh’s national record of 10.09 seconds, which he set at the Federation Cup in Ranchi in May.

This also makes Animesh the holder of three of the five fastest 100m timings by an Indian. Before Gurindervir’s record run, Animesh held the national record in the 100 meters race.

Animesh, who competes primarily in the 200 meters and is also a national record holder, will make his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow later this month.
