Despite all the efforts of the surrounding people and the fire brigade, the house became completely unusable. Nothing could be saved; not his records, his watches, his jewellery, nor his irreplaceable photographs, nor the ashes of his wife, Robyn, who passed away just a few months ago. The RC planes that once adorned its ceiling were also destroyed in the fire.
