Anthony Fauci blames Americans for not hitting his COVID vaccine target while ignoring other countries

It would not be wrong to expect those who make public health policy and make life-changing medical recommendations to have some awareness of the consequences of their opinions and predictions.
For example, it would be reasonable to believe that Anthony Fauci, one of the most prominent figures in US public health and the head of an organization dedicated to researching the response to infectious diseases, would be aware of the consequences of the policies he proposes.
But Anthony Fauci is a near-perfect example of the modern public health profession; own infallibility.

This is how we get to some of the new statements he made about his frustration with the US and our acceptance of Covid vaccines. Explanations that show once again why he is doing such a bad job during the pandemic: Most of the time he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Fauci, a new discussion At the event titled “Why HIV still has no vaccine: Dr. Fauci and Dr. Corey explain the science” organized by the “Science Museum Subspace”, it was explained why the USA is so disturbed by the Covid vaccine rate.
“If the vaccine was accepted by society, if we didn’t have a problem with the vaccine, we would have a much more effective vaccine distribution in this country,” Fauci said. “I mean, if everyone universally agreed that this was a safe and effective vaccine, we were trying to get 72 percent of the population vaccinated, but we never got there. Whereas other countries had 85-90 percent vaccinated. So I think it depends on the country.”
Fauci later said he believed it was unacceptable for people in the U.S. to receive a “second and third booster” before people in developing countries received the first dose.
“This is different than the inequality you have globally, and I think that’s a bigger problem,” he said. “We had people getting their second and third vaccinations before people in developing countries had their first vaccine. This is absolutely unconscionable.”
It’s an odd thing for him to say, considering he was instrumental in administering the second and third booster doses. Although this was a seamless change from his previous claim that the two-dose series would provide ample protection against serious consequences. Regardless, much of the developing world consists of much younger countries; for example, populations in Africa are at much lower risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 than older individuals with comorbidities in the United States or Western Europe. But that’s not how “equality” works in the minds of people like Anthony Fauci; Instead of making rational, common-sense decisions, we must push for equal distribution.
That’s why the CDC initially recommended teachers and public transit workers get COVID vaccines before people ages 65-74, because they wanted to reduce racial and ethnic “health disparities.” Sanity takes a backseat to equality.

Then there is the other, more important part of his argument: that achieving higher vaccination rates will fix the Covid epidemic in the United States. This is where Fauci’s lack of analysis, intellectual curiosity, and humility become more apparent and infuriating.
He mentions, enviously, that other countries have achieved much higher vaccination rates because they have less of an “anti-vax” culture. So how much did that matter? We can look at a few important examples to get the answer.
Australia has achieved one of the highest vaccination rates in the world by the end of 2021. By late September and early October, more than 90% of everyone over the age of 16 had received at least one vaccine dose. As of December 2021, record levels of COVID hospitalizations have been reached in Australia.

In early February 2021, only nine people were reported to be hospitalized with COVID in Australia. By early January 2022, this figure had risen to 3,101. In fact, a report in an Australian media outlet in January 2022 described a “COVID Tsunami” with “dire warnings” about the situation in Australian hospitals.

Then there is Denmark. Denmark was praised in the media, especially Slate For the vaccine passport system, which is credited with ending the spread of Covid-19 in the country. “In Denmark, which launched the first EU-based app in April, authorities have made ‘Coronapass’ a mandatory requirement for basic social participation.” Slate explained. “Access to hairdressers, tattoo parlors, cinemas, theaters and gyms was tightly controlled, with the threat of fines looming on anyone who dared to ignore this instruction… These results were hailed as the country’s official victory against the virus and a decisive victory for advocates of digital vaccine ID systems.”
Denmark has been much better at vaccinating than Australia, with over 90% of the adult population fully vaccinated by early September 2021. A few months later, cases in Denmark erased previous records. They were praised for the “formal victory over the virus” and a “decisive victory” on vaccine passports. And a few months later it had one of the highest COVID case rates in the world.

How about an example closer to home? After all, the United States is a huge country with wildly diverse policies and populations. While the nationwide vaccination rate is not as high as some other countries, many locations have far exceeded the goal set by Fauci.

In fact, one of those places was Maryland’s Montgomery County. Fauci’s own backyard, just outside Washington, D.C. By late 2021, nearly 85% of the population in Montgomery County had been fully vaccinated, with more than 90% receiving at least one dose. There was even a mask mandate, one of Fauci’s favorite policies. How well did this work for them?

Not very good! These are just a few examples, there are many more. In Hawaii, Covid deaths reached by far their highest rate after more than 90% of the state’s seniors were vaccinated. The group most vaccinated and at highest risk for serious outcomes. Maine has also seen COVID numbers rise significantly despite extremely high vaccine uptake. Same thing in Vermont.
And what makes it even worse is that Fauci made these comments this week. More than six years after the start of the pandemic, five and a half years after vaccines became available, and nearly five years after near-universal vaccination coverage in some states and countries. But either he doesn’t know the actual data on what the results of his recommendations are, or he’s too dishonest to speak publicly about it.
This is why confidence in public health is at an all-time low. The data is there, the results are there. And one of the most important voices and figures in public health doesn’t know or care about this because it would prove him wrong.
