AP To Give Appointment Orders to 630 Medical Officers Shortly

Vijayawada: As part of AP’s policy of zero vacancies in government hospitals, the state government will soon issue appointments and orders to 630 medical officers after consulting, health minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced here on Thursday.
The AP Medical Recruitment Board had issued notification last September to fill the posts of 630 medical officers across the state on a permanent basis. 4,984 candidates with MBBS qualification applied for the posts. The recruitment board announced the provisional merit list of the selected candidates in accordance with all norms, including tenure scores. 60 percent of the selected candidates are women.
The health minister said counseling for selected candidates will be held online next week and orders will be issued.
He stated that many paramedics prefer PG studies through in-service quota. This has led to around 292 vacant positions, apart from 220 vacant positions in primary health centers (PHCs).
Satya Kumar said that 280 positions in the Directorate of Public Health were filled in 2024, and now 630 more positions have been filled, increasing the total number of doctors to 910. He underlined that if all the elected candidates take office, there will be no vacant seats in ASMs.
The minister pointed out that the NDA government had filled 2,053 posts of medical staff in the state in the last 20 months, apart from the posts of 5,800 medical staff and 1,200 Asha workers. He announced that 317 assistant professor posts in the state’s public teaching hospitals will soon be filled permanently. Satya Kumar added that the state will bear an additional financial burden of Rs 350 billion annually due to filling these vacancies.
