Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar passed away on November 17, leaving his fans heartbroken forever. The 34-year-old singer, who was treated for more than 72 hours, died at AIIMS Bhubaneswar despite constant monitoring and advanced life support interventions. Sagar was responsible for reshaping the Odia music industry and soon Humane became one of the pioneers of Odia cinema. He was also called ‘Arijit Singh of Odia’ as he sang various songs in different genres.
Humane Sagar’s early beginnings
Hailing from Titilagarh in Bolangir district, Humane Sagar was born on 25 November 1990 and literally grew up surrounded by music. Sagar’s parents were singers deeply committed to the cultural traditions of Odisha. His grandfather was a composer of special albums. Humane not only thrived, but lived with music; This helped him realize his true calling in his youth.
Humane Sagar’s breakthrough
Sagar got his big break in 2012 when he participated in Season 2 of Tarang TV’s singing reality show Voice of Odisha. Humane’s powerful, emotional vocals resonated with the audience. Even before the finale, Humane had become a household name, and his victory solidified his first major step in his playback singing career. From the 2010s to the 2020s, Sagar defined Ollywood music.
Humane Sagar’s evolving career
Humane Sagar made his debut as a playback singer with the movie Ishq Tu Hi Tu in 2015. In this film, he sang the title track composed by Abhijit Majumdar. The song became an instant chartbuster and her raw yet controlled voice soon became the face of teenage romance in Odia cinema.
Over a decade, Sagar has recorded more than 150 songs and nearly 200 album tracks in nearly 50 films. Some of the notable chartbusters include Gote Sua Gote Saari, Tum Mo Love Story, Sehzadi O Sehzadi, Mu Pardesi Chadhei, Sunn Zara, Nishwasa To Bina Chalena and Pyar Bala Hichki. He also became the “voice of Anubhav Mohanty” as he recorded most of his songs for the Ollywood superstar.
Humanitarian Sagar’s life beyond singing, failed marriage
Sagar joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in 2019 and entered state politics with the aim of working on cultural and youth-related issues. Although he was not as successful in his political career as in his singing career, this reflected his desire to serve beyond the stage. On a personal front, Humane Sagar married Voice of Odisha contestant Shriya Mishra in 2017. The couple had a daughter, but their relationship fell into turmoil, leading to a highly publicized divorce.
Humane Sagar’s death
The talented singer passed away on November 17, 2025, at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after battling several health complications, including pneumonia and organ failure. He was only 34 years old.
